VJ Bell has a lifetime of fishing experience to draw on when he puts his clients on fish. His vast experience can make him look like a magician, as one of his repeat customers noted, “Capt. V.J. Is nothing less than a fish whisperer and his boat a true fish magnet.” VJ Bell got his professional start young as a mate working on charters in Wachapreague, Virginia. He moved to Stuart, Florida in 1986 to follow his dream and fish year round. He mated on some of the areas top boats and with some true fishing legends until 1992 when he earned his captains license. He has been running boats based in the area ever since. He has aided in growing the reputation of businesses including Boneshaker Charters, Challenge Sportfishing, and Sea Check Charters, and has been lucky enough to fish waters from Mexico to the Dominican Republic, from the canyons off of New England to St. Thomas and the Caribbean Islands, as well as 30 seasons on Florida’s Treasure Coast. Though he doesn’t boast about it, Capt. Bell has racked up dozens of tournament wins, multiple top Atlantic Sailfish Captain awards from the Billfish Foundation, and he was named In The Bite’s first ever Captain of the Year.
