Whether that D loop's looking a little deflated or you're searching for a proper summertime bash, the 5th Annual Klickitat Two-Hander Day, on August 12, offers a full spey-casting curriculum followed by a feast under the stars.
The free gathering is for those who'd like to learn not only how to cast the two-hander better and farther, but also how to fish it. "The Fifth Annual Two-Hander Day continues to be a fun, educational, community event for any and all—guys, gals, and families," says Jack Mitchell of Washington's The Evening Hatch fly shop. "This year we will hold the instructional portion in the town of Klickitat, helping the local community.
And as always, the 'After Party' and Catch Magazine's Under the Stars will be at The Steelhead Ranch.
Camp spots are available and RVs are welcome."
Some of the class topics are: -> Demystifying the variety of two-hand lines -> Beginner two-hand casting -> Intermediate/advanced two-hand casting -> Getting more distance -> Fishing the fly, hooking and fighting fish -> Single-hand spey casting -> Up against the trees -> Combining casts to optimize efficiency -> Long Belly Casting vs Underhand Casting Special guests include Trey Combs, Brian Chou, Ben Dow, Brian Styskal, Jeff Cottrell, and Zach Williams.
