Evinrude iDock Joystick System.
The new Evinrude iDock system adds joystick steering to select models of Evinrude E-Tec G2 outboards for easier docking.
It is available with new G2 models ranging from 150 to 300 hp in twin engine configurations.
I had a chance to test the iDock system near Evinrude’s test center in Stuart, Florida, on a Scout 255 LXF center console with twin E-Tec 200 hp outboards.
Windy conditions made low-speed maneuver challenging on test day, but the iDock eased and simplified the task of docking.
The Evinrude iDock joystick low-speed steering control allows you to move the boat in virtually any direction, including sideways, forward and reverse, as well as spin the vessel in place.
You can also spin the bow or stern while moving the boat sideways, forward or in reverse.
Gyroscopic stabilization automatically compensates for wind and current to keep the boat moving in the direction you choose.
Returning the joystick to the neutral positions resets the gyro-stabilization.
A boost mode intuitively adds thrust with additional pressure on the joystick.
